Old Magic

Ok.  I'm going to kick off my blog with a review of my all-time favorite book.  This one is entitled "Old Magic," and is written by Marianna Curley in 2000.

This novel is set slightly in the past, for the most part.  Before cell-phones, that is.  It takes place elsewhere as well, but I won't give that away!  The heroin, Kate, is a witch in a small town.  The kind where a name is everything, and a new high school student is a novelty.  And wouldn't you know, the second main character, Jarrod, has just moved into town!  There's something very...strange...about this new boy.  Soon, unexplainable things start happening, storms inside of classrooms, family accidents, you get the picture.

This book has everything.  It's told from both character's points of views, which really draws you into the story in a fantastic way.  There are sword fights, magic, and just the right mix of romance and suspense!  Normally, I am not a fan of romance, but Marianna Curley tempers it so well I found myself loving every word.

I give this book a 10/10 and a high recommendation.
